About

A practical tool built by a singer who has done the work.

DictionAid grew out of a professional frustration: when preparing a role in a foreign language, there is rarely a resource that is both native-quality and immediately usable. A recording of the text — spoken slowly, clearly, by someone who has sung the role — is the missing link in most singers' preparation.

01

Native speakers, not generalists

Every recording is made by an opera singer whose mother tongue is the language of the score. Not a pronunciation app, not a language teacher — a professional who has prepared and sung this repertoire.

02

Structured for preparation under pressure

The catalog follows the score: role by role, aria by aria. Whether you have three weeks before an audition or three months before a premiere, the recordings are built to match your timeline.

03

Curated coaching when you need more

Beyond recordings, DictionAid connects singers and coaches with native-speaking specialists for live diction work. The network is curated for quality and fit, not built for volume.

The founder

Solen Mainguené

Solen Mainguené is a French soprano, currently a soloist at Oper Leipzig. Born in southern France, she has spent her career navigating the specific challenge of singing in multiple languages — and coaching other singers through that same preparation.

DictionAid began with a simple question she kept returning to: why is there no reliable, native-quality spoken resource for the standard operatic repertoire? She decided to build one — and make it available to any singer preparing the same material.

The project has since grown into a catalog of French, German, Italian, and Russian recordings, alongside a curated network of coaches who share the same standard of specificity and care.
